Internships

The Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center offers volunteer internship opportunities from local participating universities.

Undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing careers in social work, psychology or related fields are provided supervision and training in their respective fields by staff at the Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center.

Family Advocacy Intern

Interns at the Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center provides advocacy, crisis intervention, and short-term case management services to child victims of abuse and their families who are referred to the Center. NKYCAC interns will learn to conduct trauma screenings, educating and referring the non-offending caregiver’s to appropriate resources to meet

identified needs for their child and family. Student interns learn the micro and macro levels of working with the multidisciplinary team (law enforcement, Cabinet for Health and Family Services, prosecutors, medical staff, mental health therapists, and victim advocates) to coordinate services and advocate for healing through the conclusion of cases.

Open Internships:

  • Fall Session Aug-Dec, open to any discipline, Accepting applications May 1- July 15. Psychology, child and family development, social work, criminology, sociology majors are given priority
  • Spring Session January-May, Master’s Social Work only, Accepting applications July 1-Sept 1
  • Summer Session May-August, open to any discipline, Accepting Applications March 15-May 31
